Simple explanation

Kids back in school as of last week, so lots of people back from holiday and, naturally, the sun has come out to celebrate/forums/images/icons/frown.gif.

Still, had a great day yesterday - took some friends across to Cowes, had lunch on the boat, accompanied by champagne, (thoughtfully provided by above friends - I was virtuous and only had one glass 'cos I was driving) then back to the Beaulieu River to sit in the sun on our mooring, in peace & quiet, drinking a nice cup of tea.

Luvverlee.

PS Saw "Damn the Expense" (Big Sealine) in Cowes Haven. Pretty sure she is owned by a Forumite? Nice boat, whoever she belongs to!

PPS No, I've got nothing better to do, either.........

Re: damn

damn the expense is owned by poster "planty". Apart from the fact that he is a v.nice chap, i think the name is a bit awkward cos

1) how to do shout over to them? I felt a right nerk trying to raise them, and gave up...

2) can't be easy asking for a discount on anything, can it?

Re: damn

Tee hee.

Actually, I agree with your point about awkward names. One of my main criteria for chosing a boat name was the "VHF test" - i.e., how would the name sound when shouted from the shore or spoken on the airwaves.

So far as discounts are concerned, I agree with you but "I'm a tight-fisted git and I want a massive reduction on rrp" is a bit of a mouthful when you're making a Pan-Pan call.

Re: ooh

au contraire, i think it will be a fab name. Probably taken tho, so i wil be "i'm a tight fisted git and i want a massive discount off rrp TOO" or praps "i'm a tight-fisted git OF YORKSHIRE and i want a massive discount off rrp" which could be even better...

Re: Simple explanation

Think I saw you too, as I was saying to my lad that I still liked the way the Sea Ray looked in the water as we used to have a 225 Weekender, cracking boats aren't they?. We were waiting for fuel for ages as the one past the chain ferry had run out of Diesel!! Paul

Re: damn

"Oi, D**kh**d" normally works a treat, or even better "Oi you thick brummie D**ch**d". 'Cos that's the personality suppliers get when they don't give me a discount!

Sea Ray 215/225

Very fond of mine, and have never had cause to feel concerned when out in her. They take a lot of beating (at least at the kind of prices I can run to!).

Will wave (or possibly shout "Oi! D*ckh**d") if I see you another time. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
