I wonder what the ride is like on a foiler compared to older generation boats. Sea state being of course a variable.

Might even be less bone crunching than a normal planing hull.

A lot worse on the early ones, as there were some pretty massive decelerations when they came off the foils.

The latest foilers have been optimising towards staying on the foils and not allowing them to aerate and dump the boat back in the water, rather than pure maximum speed. So they do say the ride is a bit better.

Quite a few of them have flipped the nav station to be aft facing because of the decelerations though...

I assume so. I see that BT sport are doing a highlights package. Which for some reason they have chosen to illustrate with a picture of me....

The rather fetching turquoise and pink kite. Must have been breezier than it looks if we put that one up.

In my defense, I just sent that to some of the crew and they pointed out I wasn't on board that weekend....

Various things about the broadcast made me think that the voice track lagged behind the film by a few seconds. Maybe the clock did too?

Yup. Watched it on and off throughout the morning. Thanks.

Really enjoyed it all and now feel a bit more attached to the skippers and their boats.

The "dock out" was quite emotional and the boats looked somehow small for what they are going to do.

I'm starting to warm a bit more to the foils and how they differ from boat to boat. Perhaps Lando Norris
is right saying Hamilton only has one or two drivers to beat each time out but the Vendee as a race is in a different league.
