Does it matter?

Is there a better way round?

Hooks on the hard, loops on the soft?

Or viceversa?

Using them to hang up upholstery cushions

You stick the smooth faces on the objects to be stuck together, the fuzzy bits facing each other. Other way round gives disappointing results.

Seriously, don't think it makes a difference as to 'hooks & eyes'.

Needed some self-adhesive Velcro. Chandler convinced me to try a 3M version which is a series of interlocking 'mushrooms' i.e same both sides. Worked very well and didn't pick up fluff in the way that Velcro hooks tend to. Trade name 3M Dual Lock. I used it attach headlining panels.

Twister Ken,

I use the 3M stuff all the time, which explains why I don't bother about which side. Fabrics can be a good test of the self adhesive, I find Araldite, the universal cure, ( if WD40 doesn't apply, it must be a job for Araldite ) works as long as my girlfriend's not looking...

Are the hooks going to be exposed in normal use? i.e. do you sometimes sit without the cushions? I suppose being velcroed to the sofa by your jumper can have some advantages in a sea way.

In an earlier century - and perhaps even to this day ( Sarabande will know - he's just back from one of the Emirates' camel racing circuits ) - the little-boy jockeys that rode prime Arab racing camels in their owners' ( yes! ) one-piece colours were attached to said camels by Velcro.

The benefit was, of course, saving the weight of a racing saddle....

The jockeys(young boys) are NOT held on with velcro. They just hang on for dear life and quite a few do fall off. A great sport and to watch it is something else as all you see at the start is a dust storm.
