Don't worry Mike, I am more than aware of the cost of lifting out and laying up - I've been surviving on cheese and water in order to pay our own bill!

I was just thinking that our friend could get more value for his money by lifting out for a while and getting all necessary tasks done for one price.

This would also mean he could work on the rudder in more relaxed timescales.
(Or in your terms - a bit like fitting a new steering assembly in a factory workshop instead of a service area in the middle of Wales!)

Much easier in the middle of a Welsh Forest probably!! "Prophecy" comes out for a couple of weeks for antifoul and the fitting of a bowthruster at the end of March, so I'll be hit with a pretty heavy 'lift/block/relaunch' bill myself!!

Gosport boat yard, quite close to Para come to think of it, was offering a rate of £2.50 per foot, which included washing down with a pressure washer. (the boat that is not you, oh well maybe you too). Might be worth a look.

Agree with Gosport Boatyard - they gave the best rates when I hauled Amaya out for a survey, and very helpful too.

if lough ree was anywhere near the solent that would be a good idea. but seeing as it would take me over a week to sail there I will stick with the man with the crane. we don't have tides here on the lake!

Problem is I need to get lifted high enough to drop the rudder stock out. If i just dry out I cant .. also I beleive the adhesive needs 24hours to go off

Yes, and from personal experience I can assure Jimi that from the state of lack of hairyness he has reached it is all downhill from there. I am sure that it is being exposed to too much antifouling that does it.

£62, lift and hold from 11.00 to 15.00 whilst I washed down.
