Used electric outboard

Bought it anyway, it's a bison 68, never been used
I have the same one - pushes my 22kg dinghy (3m) at about 4 knots max and a 50Ah LiFePo battery lasts a couple of hours at 3 knots - so not as efficient as the fancy stuff but perfectly useable ( we have as our sole motor for 7 years) I would note that if you go full tilt the terminals that clip on to the battery (or in our case bolt on as I changed them for proper cable ends) get very hot so carry a rag to unclip at the end or wait a few minutes for them to cool.

. . . if you go full tilt the terminals that clip on to the battery (or in our case bolt on as I changed them for proper cable ends) get very hot so carry a rag to unclip at the end or wait a few minutes for them to cool.

That's a waste of battery power, apart from anything else.

I hooked it up to a battery this evening and it works a treat, knackered now from pumping dinghy up carrying batteries and lifting heavy motor. Really pleased with it, so quiet, pushed us along nicely at about 6knts.
Result! Treat yourself to a 100 a/h LiFePo and bobs yer uncle.

👍
We’re all walking around with sun hats on.
Imagine if we had PV sun hats that trickle charged whilst fishing?😎

Baseball, Boater or full Mexican..

I've got a Bison 40, not used it yet...

It came with the boat, along with a "strimmer with a propeller" type outboard. The strimmer o/b has the transom clamps seized and doesn't seem to run, my aged Evenrude has a gunged up carburettor so the Bison is the only one that works. I've bought a 22AH battery that should be enough to get from the sailing club to the mooring and back again - intend to put it to the test in a day or so. Got to be better than rowing the Zodiac!

Bought one of the cheapo clone jobs a few years ago for £50, put some decent clips on it and its still in use today attached to assorted whatever charged battery is lying around. Probably about an hours duration dependant on "speed" . :ROFLMAO:
Its quiet and in service in a jiffy ......the machine of choice, especially on non tidal waters ,for both me and the junior scurvy crew.
Also bought a small noisy/ stinky / heavy Honda 4 stroke if any need to destroy the peace and quiet and a requirement to annoy nearbye boaters ever arises.
The only mantainance has been a coat of Hammerite on the electric motor casing , it has changed colour several times mostly green or blue.
