Upholstery fabrics

Sekers Sahara.

Looks good.

They say:
"Luxurious faux-suede for curtains & severe contract upholstery in 32 colourways. Sahara is waterproof, washable, anti-bacterial/anti-fungal and soil & urine resistant, making it suitable for healthcare environments. In addition excellent stain removal has been observed for: Blood, Urine, Grease, Ink, Grape Juice, Iodine, Betadine, Ketchup, Mustard, Salad Dressing, Suntan Lotion. "

Yep, that just about covers everything my children have wiped or chucked over our existing covers! :)

Sekers Sahara. Waterproof, and red wine proof. I tested it with a very large full glass. Don't ask.

Looks like Alcantara, wears better than Alcantara, about a fifth of the price though.

That looks absolutely brilliant. DIY or professional?

How did you achieve the rolled edge? No buttons either.

£37 per metre from Hawke House
£6.99 from Quicksellshop on eBay.

Is the difference worth it?
Only advise I got previously was the normal fabrics have too high cotton content which is more liekly to lead to mould and mildew.
Edit- and unless you are DIY, it was the labour bill, not the fabric bill that was significant.

Thank you, I've ordered some samples. What was the price of the material?

I'm looking to re do our upholstery this winter, that material looks excellent for boats.

Did your samples arrive?

I have ordered a couple myself but it looked a 'bit trade only', I customised my business name to make it sound more fabric orientated, hoping that helps!

I did all mine a couple of years ago with a roll end from eBay.
Taught myself sewing with my mums old machine. I used vinyl for the bases as this is where they seem to get wet the most.
I used the existing foam but but bought large sheets of 1inch foam to beef them up and then a layer of 'wadding' which takes the slack out of the top surface.
The side benches were an awkward shape and I couldn't get them to look right. My solution was to cut out plywood base which allowed me to stable the fabric into it and keep it all firm.
Enjoyable winter project and cost about £150 all together for 25 footer.
