Chinese 5kw heater - Laverner Pro

Hi. Bought one over a year ago but only just tried it (so out of warranty)). The motherboard stated smoking and turned black so now knackered. I blame my self for using a very old battery charger for the 12v supply - my fault. But ….a replacement from China is nearly £70. There’s loads on eBay but none look the same (as photo) . Wondering if other cheap set ups will work. I’m happy with basics on/off and temp. Any comments appreciated

Yep. You now have nearly a whole set of spare parts for the replacement heater.

EBay is full of replacement boards and control panels, often sold as a matching pair. I’d be careful not to buy the wrong wattage, 2kw 5kw etc. They will all likely have the same hardware but will have different parameters programmed in.
I have 2 of the 2kw heaters, one small and the other the common 5kw size but detuned to 2kw, and I have used both control boards on both sizes.

I bought a Chinese diesel heater and used it for a year - superb. Remote control fob etc.

I bought a second as backup, along with a new glow plug and special spanner.

The first stopped upon a cold day, after about a year; glad I planned ahead.

I installed the second heater.

All good.

I then noticed that the glow plug of the first heater had loosened (that was the only problem).

I filtered all my diesel with a special funnel AND I installed inline filters too.

Purchased for £100 each via ebay.

I now have a great Taylor’s drip feed diesel heater on the current boat and two Chinese heaters in storage for sale - I am useless at selling - time to advertise, package etc - all time consuming.
If you want one or both for £50 each and collect, great - I will advertise if those are the rules.

If you wish to purchase and have delivered, it will probably take me until the New Year to weigh and find packaging and create an advert on For Sale Section.
