Wifey a bit fragile for sailing at the mo so thinking of exploring up the Dart for a day or two and we have never been to Tuckenhay or Stoke Gabriel. I thought perhaps a night on a SG visitor buoy and into SG by tender and a night on the quay at Tuckenhay. The channel to Tuck looks well marked but knowing my luck the quay will be full of dayboats and ribs so I will have to go up prepared to go back. Any experiences up there or SG?

SG visitor bouys are limited to 9m. There's a decent pool to anchor in just upstream a bit though. Tuckenhay doesn't have much depth and you do need to follow the channel markers going in.

You will probably bottom out on the quay at the Maltsters as the tide drops. The anchorage at the entrance to Bow Creek is very peaceful, we used to anchor our forty footer there and were quite happy to leave it whilst we went ashore.

Stoke Gabriel creek is also very tidal. There is a low water pontoon at the outer end of the creek but it is inaccessible once the tide starts coming in. I suggest looking at the Dart harbour website for guidance on coming up the river.

Could be lots of zigging and zagging . Used to be interesting in a Drascombe Dabber using the lifting keel to check depth. That was a few years ago..
