May have been done before.
Scene; a coffee house in London, 300 years ago.
Enter, an Irishman in a wig.
"I'll have a large Mocha with 2 sugars please", Turns. to neighbour, who has just been slating the local population. "Sir, your opinions are as obnoxoius as yourself, but I feel a book coming on. Perhaps a reversal of character will help, I shall portray a land where the beasts are noble & man is the savage."

I'm sure Mr Swift (and probably Shakespeare too) would recognise our current behaviour. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Edit: Damn! I forgot Chaucer, Dickens & Joyce didn't I!
Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose. (sorry about the lack of accents.

In the foregoing post it was mentioned that they spend 7(!) years in Ibiza. I can't understand that one stays in a place for so many years, when one seems to detest it so much. I live 14 years in Spain, try to speak spanish and like the country and the people. However, one should know that spaniards don't speak english and that you are the one, who has to make the effort to be understood.

Wagenaar ...we must meet one day,did you find a boat?Where I live there are no ex pats although I have heard english etc have bought 2nd homes in Galicia. There are problems in any country and certainly if you have not mastered the lingo you can occassionaly get the wrong end of the stick!!!!

tea.TEA Tea. Chai.how could you.please take me to the tea plantations in uk. -China ,India, seychelles, Kenya yes.black, orange ,green.dust or sweepings(Tea bag denziens). how would you like it.straight from the bush at 3000 metres or heated and dryed.your choice.but please, tea is brewed in many places.not just uk.I agree a tea bag and warm water in a cup is not tea as its drunk outside europe.
sorry about the rant. but try coffee in mocha, the green heaven:D /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

THANK YOU, finally someone who agrees with me, and doesn´t critisize me for my views or my profession /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

See, again you are wrong, I always treat people how I would like to be treated myself. I was just expressing the way we and most of the tourists that come to this island are treated by the ibicencans.

Have you visited Ibiza or are you just jumping to conclusions? If you havn´t visited how could you possibly know what you are talking about, and believe me the Ibicencans are nothing like the people who live on the mainland, because we have visited there, so I know what I am talking about

HI, mom speaking /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif to answer your question, yes I have travelled a lot. I have lived in the Bahamas, St Lucia, Canada, Majorca, Ibiza and of course UK, I have also been to various places on holiday, so yes I think I can safely say that the Ibicencans are the most racist and unfriendly people I have met, obviously not all of them I have met one or two nice ones but on the whole they are a very jealous and vindictive race, and as I stated in my previous thread it is certainly not only my opinion, but the opinion of almost everyone I know living out here.

Obviously another ignoramous who thinks he can tell what a person is like from one comment. People like you are what this thread is all about.

I can assure you that the last thing I expected was for people to think I am racist, because I can assure you that I am not. I was actually trying to say that I know how people feel who have racist remarks made about them because the Ibicencans simply do not like the British, its a fact.

Do I detect a fellow brummie? Nice friendly people the Brummies. I´m sure Sam would love a long drinking weekend with you but unfortunately we are leaving here in 3 weeks time, perhaps another time in Plymouth? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Racism breeds racism... tact breeds diplomacy...

Bad hair days are a thing of the past if you shave it off..

Learn to get ON with the locals, its a stereotype they revolt against... not a nation...

When you get to Plymouth.. try the Rooftops and the Two Trees..

So much tension and stress.. Hommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Believe me Sam goes out every weekend and we are very liberal with her, as long as we have contact numbers and we know where she is we are fine with it.
