BrendanS, I don't think you should worry too much about the health of this thread. On the contrary, I think it is actually very healthy that we can expose posters that defend the sort of rubbish that nomad et al is spreading.

This is how an internet thread works the best; self cleaning without the need for moderators. (Although I do know that the moderators here does a sterling job when needed...., thanks from all)

A normal healthy thread is where the post is shown to be false, then everyone lets it drop. This has been going on for days.

Agree in principle BrendanS. But here, a lot of posters did not agree that it was 'false', as you can see from the very late reply from 'Lemain'. Others wanted to pursue the issue just because it was so ugly. I think it was important that this issue was exposed in all its ugliness. That is also a very good and healthy function of internet threads. I think it worked this time.

Well, I am clearly guilty of easily becoming very confrontational when presented with racial and bigoted views. I have had a very large part of my family exterminated by racial bigots so I make no excuses for being sensitive to this issue. I had hoped that European mankind had learnt something from the ethnic and racial prejudices that has killed so many of us, but I am very often reminded of the fact that history is not a good teacher. We have to constantly re-learn these things.
