Yes - I have. My experience was not one I would wish to repeat. I can't post the details here for obvious thread-pulling reasons but I would seek to buy my bulbs elsewhere...
I recently bought some LEDs from Bebi Electronics in Fiji. www.bebi-electronics.com Their web site does much to explain why all LEDs are not made equal, which I had not appreciated before. My UltraLeds lasted but a little while, but Bebi's are guaranteed for life and they seem to mean it. Their customer service is excellent, and I rather liked the idea of buying from a small company in Fiji. Delivery took about 14 days. I have yet to fit the LEDs but their quality, brightness and whiteness when dry tested seems impressive, though they were dearer than other LEDs.
Well I still need a replacement, And ultraleds are infuriating, so I will never ever be dealing with them again, even if I have to make one myself.
I'll take a look, thanks.
I have posted many posts regarding my experience with the arogant Mr Ultra LEDS, I have returned goods before and been replaced with same faulty products and been given a lecture on how my system is at fault but no explaination of why. Also he has said he no longer wants my business. Well what happened to customer service?
I've received an email explaining that emails from Ultra Leds are confidential and contain a disclaimer saying they mustn't be reproduced. Hence I've edited this quote.
I received a faulty tricolour LED from Ultraleds. They replaced it without question on the strength of an email - before I had even sent the faulty unit back.
Hmmmm.... this isn't good. I have a faulty bulb to replace and I was unsure about doing it because this happened:
I ordered 4 bulbs and then ordered another two. Five came in the post and because I was replacing one of them (wrong type) they said send them an SAE for the sixth one. I did so but they still charged me P&P on the last bulb, costing me £15 instead of £8. I should add that this was after I had to call them a few times to chase them up on the missing bulb.
From this post I think I will be looking elsewhere for my LED lights in future. They sound like a nasty bunch.
Well guess what, with nothing to lose I took it apart, and it was a dry solder joint. Sounds like a manufacturing fault rather than consumable to me /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Funny that Alistair, because I had the same problem with Phillips low energy domestic bulbs. I had got them in a Scottish Power offer and they replaced them no problems after a phone call. Did not want the duds back, so I took them to bits and found that there are two long wires going down to the bayonet cap from a circuit board. Only problem was that they are not connected to the circuit board. Fortunately it was one of the duds that I had put in first.
Well all of this stuff is cheap chinese imports.... and thats fine.
We all benefit as consumers from the low prices.
However, If I were running a business reselling this stuff I'd write off 10% of stock for failures. Replacement within a year means happy customers, referrals and profit.
My issue with Ultraleds is that they seem to want to have their cake and eat it, which just isnt on. Scottish power clearly realise this, and therefore everybodys happy!
Ultraleds are committed to customer service and take complaints seriously
It is true to say we have been a victim of our own success and it has been difficult to cope with the demand as the market has expanded. We have changed location twice in the past 5 years to cope with demand. We now have a more permanent home in Cheshire with more staff to deal with orders and customer service.
We have our bespoke products redesigned regularly and we are confident that our latest products we will be receiving in the next few weeks will be the best on the market and will be offered with a full one year warranty.
Incidentally, in the interim we will offer a one year warranty on any boat bulbs bought from March 2006 onwards and our website will reflect this in the next week. Our website is also being completely overhauled by mid- March.
Ultraleds is committed to improving customer service and 90% of orders are now sent on the day of the order being placed- with all orders over £60 sent by special delivery for following day arrival.

As a potential buyer of led nav lights and maybe a cabin lamp or two, I really would like to read something a bit more down to earth than this sort of generic stuff.
What, specifically, will you be doing to address the concerns of those who have posted above?
On a more general note, I've often noted snippetts in the yachting press and on this forum about people who've received excellent service from various marine equipment suppliers - often receiving replacement gear for failed out-of-warranty components. Anecdotal evidence suggests that boat owners are well catered for in terms of after sales service, compared with many other industries.
On the basis of your report, I have bought from Bebi too and, as you say, was much struck by their customer service: there was a small hitch on their site which prevented me taking advantage of a small discount for buying two lights, so I ended up ordering one. They saw this and are sending the second free! I have yet to see them, but I suspect I shall soon be ordering more.
Satisfied customer, etc. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I have bought from both Ultraleds and Bebi with no problems with either company.
I liked Bebi's web-site and their friendly attitude (I exchanged a couple of e-mails with them); and being an "old Pacific hand" I appreciated the fact that they had set up a small business in Fiji. Their product (nav lights) is good and well made; my only complaint is that they are not "approved". The shipment arrived in Italy with no probs with customs and in about ten days or so.
