UK Sail Numbers

I bought my boat, a SHE 36 sailing yacht last year in Holland.

Having now done the RTIR I've got the racing bug. Rather than continue to enter using my boats Dutch sail numbers, I'd like to get a UK sail number.

Can someone advise me how I go about getting one?

A couple of questions:

1. What's the difference between a K number and a GBR number?
2. I am not a member of the RYA and in fact refuse to join, any other way of getting a sail number assigned?

K's are the old series - they are no longer allocated. I think Kxxxx may be equivalent to GBRxxxx.

You can get a number allocated from RYA - if you are not a member then it costs you - approximately the same amount as joining the RYA for a year. Alternatively RORC will also issue you a number, but that costs more.
