TV on board

It seems to allow you lots of time to use these forums though...

You don't do so bad yourself ...

Because most of my work is by electronic comms - means that I spend most of the day with computer screen ... I would estimate time spent online is 60% comms with my guys out in field via Whatsapp / WeChat .... and 15% here making sure you have something to moan about ..... 15% on better mannered forums and 10% other ...

Happy now ?

Wrong. IPTV gives you live channels .......... the only limitation is if your provider allows it ... some will filter out certain channels similar to sat TV
In my limited experience, I have never been in a marina or anchorage in the UK, France or Spain where available internet bandwidth is anything like enough to support watchable IPTV or iPlayer with or without a VPN. I have seen satellite dishes on the pontoon but most people use UHF to watch tv.

Me? I've been retired for 20+ years, so I'm able to wander in and out of the internet at will. But I'd have thought that, as an OEO, you'd have had people to do that for you.

it would take too long to explain the work I am in and the range it covers. As regards having others do it for me ... as in many fields - the old skills are not learnt any more and the work I do needs those. Suffice it to say - I pass on .. support as a family ... explain what ever is necessary to my guys. Calls for care and tact - given that I have Russians, Lithuanians, Latvians, Turkish, Indian, Singapore, Indonesia, Malay, Korean, Chinese and Emirates guys all needing support in different ways in the work they do for my company.
My Clients - Oil Traders in the main - appreciate the old skills ..... with most actually becoming not only clients but friends - they want a single point of contact for the final word / results .. but direct local during the operation. That direct contact frees me up quite a bit.

Me .. I am 65yrs ... and I have no intention of hanging up my coat and retiring ............. seen too many go quickly once retired.

It varies, usually reflecting the density of masts. I’m sitting here in island harbour some distance from other boats carrying out a zoom meeting. Netflix and iPlayer are fine. I have to say though that more often than not it’s all a bit glitchy

IPTV is watchable with ~6Mb /s .... but better if you can have 10MB/s at least. If you want HD etc. (most CH's are in both std and HD) ... then 15MB/s is more than enough.

As I understand it most of UK is well over that now ...

Basically if you can watch Youtube - then you can watch IPTV

It must be stressful, especially as you have strategic offices around the world.

If you are ok to view on an iPad sized screen, try EyeTV. It’s a TV receiver the size of a matchbox into which you plug a mini aerial. It picks up the terrestrial tv signal and sends the picture wirelessly to your iPad Where the EysTV app displays it. Power is from the internal rechargeable battery or USB lead. It works surprisingly well if you have a tv signal.

I apologise to OP and others for being waylaid ...

Just one further OT Public Service Announcement: Rather than getting bogged down in a slanging match, one can always click on the name of the offending member under their avatar and select 'Ignore' or, if the persistent harassment merits it, 'Report'.
