I intend doing a trip to Cornwall (Mylor Yacht Harbour) before Autumn ends and the winter sets in - SWMBO doesn't fancy it so I might have space for 1 or 2 crew and it would be nice if any other boats wanted to come along as I've never met anyone from the forum yet. Will probably be midweek trip for 3 or 4 days, or maybe a couple of days added to a weekend. In case anyone's not been there, Mylor is a superb harbour with an outstanding restaurant and it's a cracking trip down there from the Hamble.

It sounds an awfull big trip in a small petrol engined boat, missing out loads of the finest harbours and rivers in England. You could spend a month going to Falmouth and back and still miss alot.

I wouldn't disagree with your comments at all - have done the trip loads of times and as you say, could take a month (and some!) taking in all that the trip has to offer, however, I really LOVE Mylor and that's where I want to go. Have done it once with only petrol stops and once with just an overnighter in Plymouth, but most times take three or four days. This time, intend to take 2days there, 2 days back.

We have a Fairline Carrera with twin Volvo petrols and would be interested to know your route and fuel stops. May consider a similar trip next season.

Hiya and thanks for reply. Critical thing to remember about fuel stops is that there is no petrol in Weymouth, so you must top up in Poole or crossing Lyme Bay will be a problem. If you want to do the trip in minimum time then the route we use is Hamble to Poole (top up fuel) Poole to Torquay (top up again) Torquay to Plymouth then Plymouth to Mylor. Usually we stop overnight in either Torquay or Plymouth. I have our passage plan, so if you want a copy send me a PM with your email address. You can of course, make it more of a cruise and take as long as you want to get down there as there are any number of wonderful coves and rivers, harbours etc to explore, but usually we holiday at Mylor, so tend to cruise out from there.

As I said in my original post, I intend to go down within the next 4 or 5 weeks with a couple of mates (bit of a 'stag' type trip) so if you want to come for the ride let me know we should have room for an extra one or two.

It's getting a bit late in the year to find a good weather window across Lyme Bay and back. Especialy with the slack water requirements for the two headlands and bad overfall posibilities. Never know. It might be dead flat!!

Next couple of days looks perfect, but dam, I'm not going in the next couple of days!! I live within spitting distance of the Solent and it's like a pond today. Quite often though you do get good spells Winter/Autumn bit cold, but nice flat sea!

It was dead flat at Mullion a couple of weeks ago. It almost made me want to come back to the UK to live/boat/forums/images/icons/smile.gif
