Trimaran or stabilised yacht?

Absolutely nothing for the people who like them!
Absolutely everything for people who cannot stand them!

What is this boat please?

Just in case this has not been answered, this is definitely an Oceanbird Trimaran from the stable of Honnor Marine in Totnes, Devon. It was designed by John Westell; of the markd 1&2, I am unable to say which this is. I sailed a mk2 through the summmer of 1970 when I was 15 - the best sailing of my life. There is a rudder issue - it seems to be its Achilles heel. I would but one tomorrow, if available. Rob

Ocean Bird

Just spotted the photo. It is my boat & is an Ocean Bird. I am interested to see the comments.I have owned many Yachts - cats /tris/mono & have crossed Atlantic in Roamer 36 on ARC 1. These Ocean Birds are truley capable
of ocean sailing & have done so. For the length of 30ft they instill only confidence & must be one of the easiest boats to sail. By todays standards they are heavy but that is because they are built like brick s/h. The outer hulls are filled with closed cell foam so even if they are damaged will not take in water.. Wish I had bought one years ago / they are quite rare as not many were built due to the high cost ( quality of build) This one has had full refit in 2007to include new engine / mast/rigging/ paint job/ instrument upgrade/wiriing/+++,s. Everyone who has come out for a sail with me can't believe the stablity and ease of handling which is important when you get to be my age ?? Even the reluctant mariner ( my wife ) likes it

Hello,
I am thinking of buying an oceanbird 30 though it is a bit of a renovation project. It has a lombardini engine with 150 hours which is a plus though apart from that, no sails, internal refurb needed and outer polish and woodwork replacement standing rigging replacement. Any pointers on what sort of price? Anyone know any active oceanbird 30s or owners on here?
