I vaguely remember someone on here talking about a register of the above, that only brokers have access to.

I need to find out the real prices achieved for a particular model, and some of it's closest competitors, for a purpose other than buying or selling a boat.

Is anyone able to help? I'm happy to pay an admin fee if a broker can provide the info.

If you actually need the REAL prices, I'm very skeptical that such thing as a proper, reliable database actually exists.
Otoh, if you just need to have an idea (which is what any broker database could give, anyway), just look at yachtworld website.
Make an average of the asking prices for the model you are looking for, lower the result by 20%, and you've got the most reliable estimate you can get. :encouragement:

Indeed nick brokers have access to yacht world site and can add the achieved price after a sale. What good it does I'm not sure, also there are boats and boats , no where does it state condition. Take for example the s28 here at Swanwick it's burnt out , if clipper put the sold figure on the site it won't reflect it's value truly as really it's a pair of engines and a load of aggro as what to do with the rest.

What is it you need to know , phone or pm me if you wish . Cheers

Wrongly in my view. There are still plenty of boats out there with fanciful asking prices. I looked at about 10 boats last year before I bought my present one and all but 2 are still on the market now. The 2 that have sold were priced right at the bottom end of the market and as I understand still sold for a lot less than asking price. So maybe 20% less than average asking price as suggested by Mapism is even too optimistic. Having said that, it does depend on the size and type of boat. Mid size flybridge boats in the Med are still not selling well whereas possibly smaller boats here in the UK are doing better

I recently bought a boat. I hope the price I paid is confidential .
The final price I paid included a deduction for some significant faults which were discovered by my surveyor. Is that a good price for comparison with another boat having no significant faults?
I will shortly be parting with a fair sum to put right the most significant faults. The cost for the parts and labour does not appear on the sales invoice for the boat.

Good reason for why the "achieved" sale price from the database should be treated with caution as you need to know the details of the boat and the circumstances of the sale. Boats of a particular model often have asking prices that vary +/- 10-15% so you could have selling prices for seemingly similar boats being 30% or more different - and often the differences is easily explained when you have more details of the deal. For obvious reasons this particularly applies to older boats where condition is much more variable and has a bigger impact on prices.

Fwiw, I would also disagree with your strategy.
I said -20% as an estimate of the average CLOSING price.
As a first offer, I'd rather start at -30%.
But only assuming that you really like the boat...! :)
