Has anyone had experience of typical climate / sea state crossing at this time of year? I am reasonably experienced and an instructor and whilst I am up on the theory of ocean crossings, I have not made one as yet.

I am also aware of May being the "norm" for this crossing. Obviously I would be looking out for tropical storm warnings etc, but before I do deeper research and planning, I would be grateful for any experiences / advice out there.

My option is to leave it until next year - I cant go earlier than this.

thanks

You'd be leaving east coast of USA, the Caribbean or Bermuda right at the historical peak of hurricane season. So you'd either have to go by a far northerly route or take the very real risk of being hit by some really nasty weather. You might get away with it but you might not!
