I recently bought a Zodiac and trailer from relative in France. The trailer is seperatley registered. Does anyone know whether I can tow the trailer in France with it's French registerd plate behind my Brit car sporting UK plates?.
Reason being it'll save me messing about with the trailer board and it's less likely to get knicked whilst parked

I presume you could if you have re-registered the trailer to you; which of course presumes you are able to do this.

No, you won't be legal! Over here in France if a trailer is above a certain weight, which yours obviously is, it has to have a separate registration number, effectively a separate carte grise. This is why you see cars towing caravans, boats etc which have a different number plate from the towing vehicle. Each registration has to be made in the department where the owner lives, it is unique to them and can only be used by the legally registered owner on their trailer.

Trust me - change the lighting board, it could save you a lot of hassle!
