Tool for rudder "nut"?

The attached photo is the "nut" at the top of my rudder shaft. Anyone know what the tool for this is called?

I don't know but the tool for removing disks on angle grinders may fit.

If not then it may well be quicker to make your own tool rather than chasing around trying to locate one.

[Later] Hmmm, but hard to find one that opens to 55mm.

Have made one out of a bit of steel rod with a plate welded on top for a bit of bracing, but I suspect it will bend if I let the gorilla use it.

If you can take the weight off the thrust bearing (by lifting/jacking gently the rudder from underneath) you can probably remove the nut/bearing by hand.

Is there a slot in the side of the nut, and does that screw tighten to close the slot, thus making a locking nut out of it?
Might be worth checking before you spend time on a strong peg spanner.

I've made my own, it's possible to use screws as pins, preferably turned down but not essential

try putting two close fitting bolts into the holes in the nut and turning with a large screwdriver as a lever between them.

Unfortunately the rudder shaft gets in the way!

I think the one I made will do the job, we have got the rudder jacked up, and it's just that last 1/4 turn that needs a tool.

You could put two close fitting bolts in as previously suggested and then use a stilson across them.
