Hi
The hose from the Jabsco electric toilet to the black water holding tank needs replacing. The only problem is it is completely inaccessible….probably installed before they lowered the liner onto the hull…it’s about two or three meters long….the only possible solution I can think of is to attach either a new hose (or guide wire) to the existing hose where it joins the tank and pull it through from the toilet end (or vice versa)…
My question: Is it a straight pull ? Or does the hose go in loops…or through valves or filters etc etc etc
This is a Swift Trawler 34 with a single sea water flushed toilet

Be sure to securely attach a mousing line to either end of the hose before starting, so if you come to a stop in one direction, you still have the option of going back the other way. You can in extremis even cut off the length that you've pulled free (reattaching the mousing line) before trying the other way; the new hose - especially if you warm it up before threading - will be much more flexible than the old, calcite encrusted pipe that you pull out, so it should go through more easily.

Thanks for that…I like the idea of heating the new hose….and even the idea of making the new hose a patch work of old and new bits.
Any idea if the hose will be a straight uninterrupted line from toilet to tank?

It should be straight to the tank - any toilet hose I have replaced has been like this. The discharge hose will be different, probably with a syphon break.

I replaced mine last year and I used this stuff, it was much more flexible than the Vetus version that I removed, making it much easier to fit. Seaflow Butyl Sanitation Toilet Waste Hose (38mm ID / Sold Per Metre)

If you can figure out how to do it, an upgrade to fresh water flush will be a major update. No smells, no calcification.
I have often dreamed of a fresh water flush….there is a lot about it on the internet….also (and please don’t quote me) you might be able to use fresh water tank feed to the bathroom because vas showed me some non return valves that will prevent cholera

Yes you don’t need a separate tank or supply, but you deffo need non return valves. Worth doing it, a game changer.

I put a 15mm T-piece in the cold supply to the basin tap in each head, between the supply and the tap flexi-tails. Then there is an isolator valve so I can isolate the flush supply individually. Run pipe to solenoid controlled non-return valve, then on to the bowl flush. I also had to change the macerator pump and the switch panel. It wasn't a massive job, about £200 per bog

Valve - SEAFLO Solenoid Valve & Siphon Breaker 24V
Switch - SEAFLO Quiet Flush Switch Panel 12V/24V
Pump - SEAFLO Macerator Pump For Quiet Flush Toilet 24V

Do you use the tap water circulating pump…or do you use the sea water toilet pump ?

Deffo use this butyl hose and not the white stuff with a wire spiral in its wall. Butyl is much more flexible - and so easier to fit- and better at retaining smells, so it’s a win win (apart from the cost!). 👍

You might try fitting a straight connector to the ends of the old and new hoses to aid your pull- through.

It will depend on the boat design and also the route intended for the waste. In some cases I believe the hose goes from the toilet pump to the tank but may need a loop at the top to attach to the vertical spigot on top of the tank.
More commonly,as discussed in these forum pages and in magazine articles, the pipe from the pump goes my to a 2-way diverter valve with one outlet from the valve going in a loop to get tank and the other going to the outlet seacock.

So the original sea water pump and filter are now redundant?
Yes, but does depend on the current set-up. Mine had a Jabsco pump that was a combined seawater pump and macerator pump and had 3 connections - sea water in, sea water out, discharge out. I replaced this with the pump linked above that just has discharge out. It is considerably quieter than the combined pump, but by no means quiet!
