Don't forget that when you are replacing the engine its a good time to review the layout of the engine compartment and make sure that all items therein are easy to service in future. Whack in some decent soundproofing before the engine goes in when it is much easier to do a good job.

Just a reminder to check the shaft wear and the cutless bearing whilst doing this job. If there's been no problem with the previous engine may be OK, but you may eliminate one area of future vibration, should it occur, after the installation has been done.

The project has started....

I am sure it will go well.

Please post how you get on, pictures would be great, I love seeing these things happening.

No photos as yet but today I picked up a nice little used Yanmar 1GM10 from a marine engineer on the South Coast. Top man, gave me the full history of the engine, what he has done with it (top end overhaul) and was generally very helpful. The engine was in good nick, came with mounts, instrument panel and loom but one issue......no gearbox!!

Seems I don't like to make things easy on myself but it was a good price for a nice little engine and i've got a bit of time.

Now i've got to source a GM10, GM20 or GM30 gearbox and we'll be in business......anyone out there got one kicking around?!

Cheers all!!
