Thoughts and prayers are with oGaryo tonight

All my sympathies and my very best wishes to Gary.

I've just spent two days in a cardiac unit (again!), with a relatively minor complaint, but I've seen every kind of heart condition, at almost every age. It's somewhat unnerving to see, but also very reassuring how well they're treated, with every expectation of a return to rude health. One bloke, 78 years old, was in for a new pacemaker battery. He looked at least ten years younger, and I was amazed to learn he'd first had a pacemaker fitted after a minor heart attack at the age of 40!

Been there, done that, got the tee shirt. I blame a certain street in Moenchen-Gladbach. When I went in to the Cardiac Ward there was a bloke in his 90's still smoking rollies. Told us he parachuted into Normandy on D-Day and was on his third by-pass, this time a quadruple apparently - didn't know there was such a thing. He seemed quite believable.

Once I'd worked I wasn't going to die we had the time of our lives. Swapping monitors, hanging a bottle of whisky from the drip and feeding it down to a canula, that sort of stuff. Must have driven the nurses round the bend.

Gary, hope it's just a glitch and you're out of there in a hurry mate. Take care of yourself.

Geoff

Gary, just read this news, hope your feeling better soon, you drama queen !
Next time we share a beer and you talk about being on the wagon for a few months, I will remind you life is way too short and precious to miss out on valuable drinking time. BTW it's your shout....

Morning guys, still here which is a bonus :) been moved to a window bed in a quieter ward with good 4g signal so able to post now.

Have read all the kind posts and am taken aback by them, really appreciated.

Ripster, you may want to rethink your signature in such circumstances lols RIP :)

The vampires have extracted more blood this morning and am hoping for the Troponin levels to have dropped. Feeling fine within myself, ECG still good, resting heart rate in the mid 50's, BP 119 over 78.

I've diagnosed the cause and waiting for the hospital to catch up with me so I can be released to take my medicine. To understand root cause we have to summarise recent events.... 78 mile bike ride in total on Sunday, man flu on Monday with temperature of 101f, silly busy at work on Tuesday, chunk of cheese and a large glass of port Tuesday evening. That clearly leads to lack of beer being the culprit, going to fix that when I'm outta here! :)

Just caught up with this post.. Blimey............ But good to see you are in good spirits. Hope you make a full and speedy recovery, a positive mental attitude (which you seem to have) will go a long way to helping that recovery, take care.

Have just had txt conversation with the man in question....the cause appears to be a bit of a tug on his "killcord" !!!!............ ....... I,ll get me coat !!
