THOSE OF US WITH BOATS IN THE MED

Why doesn't the FT mind their own business, I wonder?
From a boating viewpoint, it looks like this is going to be the best season ever, and I see no need to share it with others.
Yeah, I know, the economy, and so on and so forth.
But hey, it's only money...!
Totally agree. Just came down to Tropea from Salermo and didnt see a single boat on the way down. Anchored off golden beaches and was only boat of this size - s58 - in sight. In fact only other boats small day trippers. Heaven. Just had dinner in a fabulous restaurant in Tropea town, only foreigners in sight. Basically looks as if the only tourists in S Italy are northern Italians. The atmosphere is relaxed, no incessant talk of corona virus, everyone carries a mask but rarely uses one - in short as you say this looks like being an unbelievable season.

Well having been here in S Italy a week my observations as follows
1. No foreigners here at all. Foreign tourism down 85% according to the shop owners I speak with
2. Very relaxed outlook everywhere. Seems very little stress
Most interesting is that all the talk about England and English behaving badly/ breaking this lockdown rule and that/crowded beaches etc and all other countries are perfect is garbage. At least in S Italy I see absolutely nothing different to what I saw in Cornwall in July. Very little social distancing, I see more English people wearing masks inside shops than I do here for example. The beach party last night lasted until 6 am with at least 100 people (not me) in attendance, all very stylish dressed I should add, at least from what I could see. So I think enough talk of how bad England is. That said I personally don't have a problem. People are courteous and respect your space in general, they are polite and easy going and while it could well be because I don't speak Italian, it is absolutely fabulous to be somewhere where it appears the only topic of conversation is not Covid. Note that this observation covers all age groups.

Well that's it for now15968860893310.jpg
Five months on the boat, longest ever & by myself. Drive back to UK tomorrow. Will be down again this year to bring a last load of "stuff" before next year's customs disaster.

I've done so much work on the boat I have to check my notes to remember. Replaced four fixed windows including some surrounding plywood panels & fettled just about everything else.

Got a bit of cruising in, visited Bouba's area, Cavalaire & Porquorolle. Longest trip by myself & really enjoyed myself. Hope the Admiral was able to see me from above & approves ❤

Well done FT, that is a long time cruising solo, I remember your earlier posts when Hurricane went down to Spain just prior to lockdown.

Our destination for the day, the bay of Leoube (better known to some of you as JCB). Oh dear, there’s a lot of boats here and it’s still early
