Yipee! We've booked next years sailing holiday, getting in before the boat show rush. A Dufour 36 met with SWMBO's approval, so we now have to look forward to two weeks in places like this:

Anyone know this place?

My Mum used to tell me not to wish my life away, but ROLL ON JUNE!

Well it looks rather familiar, Turkey perhaps? THe ruins and the topography, plus a faint outline of one of the yachts (gulet?)all suggest Turkey. I haven't sailed there in a few years - but if it is Turkey then you will have a great holiday. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Your right, it's Turkey. A beautiful area on the Lycian coast of southern Turkey known as Kekova Roads, taken from the medieval fortress of Simena, above the village of Kale Koy. Beneath the waters you can see the ruins of an ancient sunken town. It's one of my favourite places.

Here are a couple more photos showing Kale Koy and the castle:

and the anchorage towards Ucagiz:

Now, how do I make the next six months pass more quickly???

ahh Kekova Roads - now that rings a bell. I worked along the S. coast of Turkey for a couple of wonderful summers about 20 yrs ago. Thanks Tony your pics brought back great memories; the crystal clear water, great sailing, exploring the ruins (both above and below water), the heat and the din of the cicadas, fabulous Turkish bread...ahh it's all flooding back, must go back one day. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Lovely place to cruise- lovely place to anchor at the western end. We ended up buying a carpet here after being plyed with beer- we did actually want a carpet. I love the whole area- have you been through the Jason and The Argonauts gap in the rocks on the way there from Kas- it's about 100m wide and 300m deep and acts as a huge wind funnel. We're trying Croatia next June.

<hr width=100% size=1>Just enjoy it.
