Some data here on AK47 bullets, 7.62×39mm - WikipediaMoitessier claimed that the 6mm steel plate used in the construction of "Joshua" would withstand automatic gunfire at short range. I think he meant an AK47, a favoured weapon of pirates in his day. A bit heavy though for a Mercedes!
May be it should be if you intend to sail in certain areas. See post #67.While I enjoy a good thread drift....how bulletproof a boat is shouldn’t be a criteria
But watching Zatara, they family sailed through pirate waters to the Red Sea!May be it should be if you intend to sail in certain areas. See post #67.
Quite right. Unless you can outrun or outshoot them no small boat will withstand an attack by pirates. Big ships are a bit different. Google "Boularibank pirate attack" for a true account of how it can be done. While I enjoy a good thread drift....how bulletproof a boat is shouldn’t be a criteria
Unfortunately the pirate weapon of choice is a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG)
