Just realised that the Waverley flies a defaced Red Ensign.

It wasn't windy enough on the day I saw her to see what the motif was.

Any ideas?

@VicS ensign I saw a couple of weeks ago was definitely defaced. Just started me wondering...
I think a defaced red ensign cannot be worn by a vessel on professional or commercial business. Maybe that's the difference between when you saw her and all occasions when photographed for Marine Traffic

Does this blurred image show a defacement? Not sure. She was certainly on commercial business carrying passengers from Llandudno. Edit: This is a frame grab from a video and other frames confirm something is there as well. It's in the same part of the flag as that in the original post.

She was definitely working the day I took that shot. It was a cruise from Custom House Quay in Greenock to the Kyles - and it was mobbed. I think you can just see some sort of motif in my original post.
