I am now full of admiration for anyone who thinks that just nipping down to the Med for a relaxing couple of days on the boat is cool.
Its all total tosh of course, you have got to be nuts to do it.
Its the 4.30am start to catch the 7.30am flight from Stanstead that hints of the endurance course to come, all to quickly followed the day after by the 10pm last flight out.
The show area was well described by TCM a week or two ago and the whole place is in desperate need of a coat of masonery paint and all exibition halls a bit tatty and seemingly bit halfhearted.Lots of stylish "boat theme" clothes but not much actual proper real gear.
Ps.All shorts and T shirts remained untroubled with brollies and fleeces being much in demand..
Also tons and tons of impractical me too Fairline/sunseeker clones sporting acres of garish white plastic with Italian names that know one has ever heard of.
But......
Wow,what a monster gathering of divine mega yachts, which make SBS look like poverty corner at your local boat jumble.Notice the new big Sealine tucked away in a corner looking bit lost. What appeared to be the biggest fish in the pond at Southampton was relegated to the economy section along with the ribs etc./forums/images/icons/laugh.gif
Six of us got well and truly shafted in on site restuarant over light liquidy type lunch debacle. Two day budget vanished in 90 mins.
Other establishments in town proved to be good value as did taxi prices.
loads of interesting little streets and alleys around dock front selling all types of interesting cack.
Ps.It was chilly and windy and wet.Just like home really, only more expensive
