The UK Government has decided to accept CE marking indefinitely .
So really no one will be bothering with UKCA marking .

We have the same experience with that brand, and to get it repaired was more than a new machine. We went elsewhere and are more than happy with our Siemens, so far it has lasted double the length of time the Miele lasted.

My Meaco DD8L is using about 30p per day in electricity at the moment. . . .
I haven't blocked the vents in the boat up yet but when done this should reduce energy use.

Not really . Just wasting a bit of energy. The vents are quite small. I will be sorting the sealing of the vents tomorrow.
But no boat will be completely air tight
