My boat was previously antifouled with commercial antifouling which I learn contains TBT (tributlyltin) and which is now outlawed.
Does anyone have any experience of how to get rid of this? Do I scrape it off or can I apply ordinary antifoul over it. I plan a trip to France next year where I understand the authorities check boats for this from time to time. Also I'd like to be kind to the shellfish and dogwhelks.

Mind you it was marvellous antifouling............

A couple of 20 litre drums of highly illegal TBT antifoul eh?

Well in the great tradition of being nice to my fellow man (Xmas and all that Guff) I will offer to take them of your hands without charge and dispose of them at the rate of about 5 litres every 2 years or so. (Maybe longer if the stuffs as good as they say). /forums/images/icons/smile.gif/forums/images/icons/smile.gif/forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Providing the existing a/f is sound give it a couple of coats of Jotun Vinegard then apply a/f on top.Try Specialised Coatings tel.01205871394 they are very reasonable .I have dealt with them for a number of years.

You'll have to fight me for them! I'm big boned aswell! They will be gone in the spring, may fall all over the bottom of my boat! Whilst being disposed of, enviromentally!

By the way, still available in malta and tunisia, shhhhhh.
