Hi,
I have been googling for examples of yacht tapered boot tops with little success.
Does anyone have example pictures to give me an impression, or links.?

thanks
Howard

Tapered how?
I tapered mine higher at the stern, hopefully too subtly to be noticeable, but enough to lose weed growth where the flattish stern was always wet on a swinging mooring.
It looked ok once heeled a little anyway. The bow was easier to clean.

Look at http://www.yachtsnet.co.uk/archives/westerly-33-ketch/a54106-moored2.jpg or http://www.yachtsnet.co.uk/archives/prior-30/g8057-moored2.jpg - the aim is to enhance the sheer of the hull subtly, though it may also help to reduce weed.

http://blog.tadroberts.ca/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/Swan65boottop.jpg shows a nice example on a nice boat, from http://blog.tadroberts.ca/2010/12/drawing-the-boottop/

On a modern boat a straight level-to-waterline boot top looks better in my opinion - http://www.yachtsnet.co.uk/boats/charter/moored3.jpg - the main purpose of the multiple lines is to disguise high topsides - http://www.yachtsnet.co.uk/boats/p79612/images/p79612-moored1.jpg is another example

For a boot top (just above the waterline), I'd use hard antifoul. Higher up, my cove line, around 1cm wide, is tape, but for a broad tapered line to disguise topsides height like on JWilson's first pic, I reckon paint would be easier.

Yes helpful, thanks, wish folk would take more pictures

I looked into this in some detail when I bought the first Rustler 44. I measured several boats and decided that for me it looked best with this method.

Imagine looking at the boat from the side at water level. The boot top should be horizontal, and the same width, from the stern to the centre of the boat. From the centre it should slope in a gentle curve until it is about twice the height at the bow.

Of course, this on my boat was roughly following the line of the hull which if it has a low bow helps to make the boat look better IMHO.

The boot top itself will be widest at the stern because of hull shape, but not appear so from the side.
