TAMD 41A instrumentation

I have a couple of things to ask re the instrumentation on our two station boat.

Firstly one of the upper small display units (the tacho and warning lights/buzzer in a box one!) occasionally starts a slight feeble buzz from the warning buzzer. It is not a full buzz and no warning light comes up, likewise no buzzing on the downstairs fully instrumented helm. Does anybody have experience of this and is it just a dodgy shorting across buzzer terminals perhaps? Does the upper unit share sender signals with the main instrumentation or does the warning system have two sets of senders for oil and water.

Second, I wish to install coolant temperature gauges at the second station, Does anybody know of a blanked coolant plug I can insert a sender unit into or will I need to put a Tee on the existing ones......I will find them but where are the coolant temp senders by the way?

Thanks

At the upper helm the 16 pin loom is there where it plugs into the existing dash , peel back the rubber to reveal the cables , select the desired colour for temp and oil pressure , this is from the engine via the Y plug splitter , use vdo gauges to match the existing Volvo ones , for each gauge it will also need an earth and a ignition fed live feed from the Red/blue , black is earth , then each from temp and oil , colours in the handbook . You will then require the two station senders from Volvo . I’ve done many conversions .

I had the same system. Warning beeps strong below but feeble and crackly on upper deck.
I rebuilt upper dashboard and put the larger displays in it and small ones downstairs.
the warning beep upstairs was as before!
the implication is that is the wiring harness and plugs.
however as I now have oil and temp gauges on upper deck I can keep an eye on things. I did this after the starboard engine overheated and seized.
Stable door etc etc

thanks, ( qoute Warning beeps strong below but feeble and crackly on upper deck) .but we have no warning below when one makes just the feeble sporadic noise on one up top. Tested with the button the upstairs are both fine too so I do think we simply have a bad bit of wiring.short/corrosion or such like. I will investigate further...it stopped eventually yesterday!

Hi Volvo Paul...thanks for coming back to me! you may recall our old Storebro? we moved after 17 years recently on the previous home berth to a new one! Anyway, the tip on finding the wires is great...so I do not need to run cabling in. I am not sure VDO ohms range gauges are so easy...finding this with fuel gauge issues at the moment (sender duff). The two station senders....I bet being volvo/VDO range of resistance they charge for those! haha

I have various cables and things to route on the boat soon....mostly from downstairs to upstairs! to do the upper temperature gauge conversion I understand volvo Pauls guidance on the loom etc already in place.....will I find a second sender cable on the engine loom too near the current single station senders?

I have found water temp dual station senders, not cheap at about £70 each.

Is it a totally separate wiring circuit inbuilt for the 2nd station.....if it is I could use a Tee piece and another single station sender on each engine but on the less costly route of euro or american ohms range and suitable gauges? just a thought.
