Cruise Reports Taking our yacht to Sweden for the summer - any 50m marinas?

I was wondering about this a few days ago. If ever there were a need for a humanitarian vessel such as this...

Fancy this thread popping up in the inbox again!

The crew just got back aboard today. We went on hold for three reasons over the summer.

There's a bunch of big news coming out (some have find me on Facebook, so you'll probably see it first there) that has taken me off task for a bit. The joy I had hoped to get out of this, was time and to do a tangible project... But I think we'll end up taking her to Feadship (or similar) and doing it the normal way over the winter. At least this year we start with a fully working ship... :)

Everyone's still invited to the launch party. I won't reneg on any deals, including a BBQ or two. I'll get the guys to check out the registration numbers. I'm sure they'll be in order before she moves again!

Bearing in mid that it's September already, surely you can't really expect Feadship (or similar) to take the job on this Winter? Don't they have build schedules agreed years in advance, let alone all the naval architecture / design stuff that will have a considerable elapsed time in itself?

And would they even be interested in a project such as this?

Looking forward to the updates.

If only this were a less public forum, I'd share so many interesting updates...! Did you know, if you search my name + yachting; this thread comes up #3 on Google's list?

Well... It did for me the other day... Sigh... Wish my name wasn't here, bit never mind... Anyone know if an admin can remove it/star it out?

It's not 100% certain. I spoke with several yards in April/May when it became clear that this summer's targets were going to be missed... And it wasn't a problem then. Things do change tho.

Again, in a less public forum, more interesting insights could be shared... But for now, I'm happy with the team doing the naval architecture. God for it they see this thread...

I've also decided to rename her again on launch. But for now, she's known as Kitt. This will make sense to a few contributors here on this site who are close to the project... But sorry, to all the other readers, for the vagueness.

By the way, I was in Fiji last week. On a 7m boat, in the middle of the night, doing about 30 knots between the outer islands and the mainland... And I have to say, all the comments and skepticism around my 7m 47knot, 1000 mile range tender were well founded.

Bumpy as hell too.

So I'm investigating foiling options for medium range dinghies/tenders.

Had some very interesting conversations around this.

Hope everyone had a lovely summer...

Best (presently in NZ);

If it means anything, I have no objection to admin/moderators editting my posts to star out the name (or if there's some way to let me edit old posts i can do it myself). I think i revealed it first, not sure how often it got quoted/repeated after that.

Does the "right to be forgotten" cover forums and identity being revealed etc?

Of course it can. And then you apply to Google to have the keywords not appear in cached searches.

But surely you should know this?!

The admin option seems like step one.

Google will soon get bored of it if the words have been removed.

Anyone here an admin?

You need to contact Google as keywords will remain in their Cache. Google never gets 'bored' and will not remove data unless requested. It's an easy process which i've had to do for clients in the past.

Cheers Alt. :)

Will do. Pretty sure this is now the shadow boat, so less worried about the ribbing I was getting earlier on. We're zoning in on 100,000 views which is insane... I feel like we should have some form of party...!

New reports are that she looks good. Maybe we'll get her moving - will know by end of October based on whatever the progress has been between now and then.

Presently in Malaysia. Yesterday was monumental at work. Sorry I'm not driving the boat forward... But looking forward to getting back to it some time soon!

Safe sailing

:)

Boat is being prepped for a move.

Provisional plans are for a departure prior to end of October now. Time will tell.

The earlier comment about yards being busy, was certainly accurate. The Caribbean weather has caused a lot of boats to stay put in the Med this season, getting yard work done...!

So we're off to Viareggio to go pick up a 80' wooden boat an go park both next to my house in Greece.

Let's see how well these plans work out.... But it's exciting at least!

Lovely!

That's made me very happy. A nice post!!

Apologies for the meat. Fish is good. I believe we have the launch party arranged.

Initial plans for some of the interior work. It's not 100% how the final will be, but notice the big fold down doors in the bow, either side of the main bedroom.
