Have I seen drives where it is mechanical cable then going to an electric thing meaning just run an electrical cable to the head unit instead of cable ?(run the electric cable thru tight bends) Any info please.

I know it says 'tech and design' but this is principally the domain of yacht racers, the tech. and design is about how to sail fast, the 'PBO Reader to Reader' forum is read more for technical queries like yours, I would be disappointed if you did not get a response there though you might need to expand your question a bit.
This is a bit like Yachting World in its heyday, (or Yachts and Yachting but that is a different publisher) PBO for technical queries and YMs Scuttlebut tends to focus on cruising matters, though there is a lot of overlap. There also is the Lounge if you enjoy being obnoxious.
