Hi all, I need to bring an 895 Merry Fisher from Swanick Marina west to Poole in a few weeks time. Aside from usual tide streams/tables and wind can anyone share any good tips on this particular passage ?
If you stay in the channels it's not an issue. I never understand why peeps like to cut the corner at Calshot/Lepe, it's just not worth the risk. All it takes is one hidden pot marker, why bother.Careful of pots from Calshot to Lepe.
All set for Friday but….looks like strong winds so likely will have to postpone. Will decide later tomorrow- A real pain as some detailed logistics involved but that’s boating..How did your trip go in the end and are you berthed in Poole permanently?
Agree and stand a little way off the end of Christchurch ledge, it’s infested with potsSuggest use North Channel from Hurst rather than Needles. Head straight for East Looe entrance to Poole. Only bit to give concern is going over Christchurch Ledge with a west going tide and a westerly wind over F4. Can be a bit lumpy.
