Sunken boat project.

He has posted here to share hi project. He has not asked how to get AC power on his boat.

Read post #234 "It's just a 22ft sports cuddy so not much load demand..."
Ok....what I suggest is that we set a limit....I say we should stop arguing after another 50 posts

Update

The foam cushions and their respective covers are still drying out. Fortunately the bathroom is small and the heat from the dehumidifier warms the room which aids evaporation. I've been emptying the 2 litre container daily.

On the boat I've just been down and emptied that dehumidifer too. I opened up a hatch from the cabin to underneath the boat (heater ducting and a few sea valves visible) lots of humidity around.

I will empty out the battery boxes which are full of seawater and remove the (presumably dead) batteries.

I'm collecting the Honda 200 next week. As the dealer is in the west country I'm not able to get the PDI done there ( and don't have a trailer or 4WD to do a 400 mile round trip).

I'm hiring a decent trailer as the engine is probably 300kg on its transportation frame.

So, I can have the PDI done locally for a price...

This allows the engine to be registered on the Honda system. Whether I choose to have it serviced by a dealer remains to be seen!!

Can you put the dehumidifier to drain so it run’s constantly?

Can you heat it too to make it faster?

I can, but I'm away for a couple of days and prefer not to leave it too long.

I've insured the boat for 3 times what I paid for it but I'd be an unhappy bunny if it caught fire!

Is that just your valuation or an agreed valuation ?

I doubt they'd pay out more than you paid for it.

It was my valuation.

However, I have a screen shot of my chat with Craftinsure where I said it was worth £10 k at least and they said use that figure....

I'll need to revalue once it's all done. Probably £40k Ish....

I was recently involved in the purchase of a similar outboard and we were able to negotiate with the dealer to “pdi” it in his workshop, he registered it and then we collected it (from the other side of the country) and fitted it.

Might be worth asking your dealer to do the same, but would have been easier to negotiate before you paid.

Re the warranty requiring dealer servicing, I agree it’s a bit of a conundrum.

For transporting it I’d just hire a van. It will fit in a normal transit.

Interesting, was that a Honda?

I recall the PDI on my new100 honda about 3 years ago, the guy started it, checked fixings and connected a laptop etc.

I'm not sure how you can do a pdi without running up the engine?

It also needs fluids adding which makes transporting it more problematic.

I'm hiring a trailer for £80 over 2 days. Cheaper than van hire.

No a Merc. The dealer took it off the pallet, filled it up, fired it up and then put it on the pallet again.

It transports just fine with the oil in.

Ah ok.

I suspect that there's precious little margin left for the dealer in my case as I'm getting a hefty discount on list price.

I'm getting a reasonable discount as this is one of the last "old style" versions.

Adding the PDI cost locally means it's still a very good deal.

It will be costing me around £13k.

Update

Money transferred to Honda dealer, collection next Wednesday from Looe.

I'll keep it at home until Zoom 4 is lifted and I hopefully get the engine going.

Battery next, I don't think I'm going lithium ion as a "cheap" LA one will do.

Chinaspacher received, just a few swaps to do as using existing ducting, exhaust. New fuel pump, heater only required.

I'll keep the Bluetooth fob in the cabin to control it.

I need to empty and flush the 28 litre diesel tank and pull through fresh fuel.

I think there's a setting on the controller for pruning the system.

Update.

This morning I removed the fabric panels in the cabin which were going mouldy

Treated with mould remover, vaxed to rinse off then into my dehumidifying room along with all other soft furnishings.

I removed both 110a batteries and they are on charge now. One was 11.5 v the other just over 12 v , so some hope one may be recoverable.

I put a new battery in and loosely fitted the terminals.

Nothing went bang!

Tried the tilt switch on the outboard and it worked.

Then put key in ignition and crossed fingers.

Beep beep, which is the honda good news sound.

Moved key to start and the starter motor made a funny noise.

Retried and it engaged and turned the engine over!!!

Nav lights, plotter and gauges all seems to work.

So I'm just going to check for any water in the engine oil. Connect a portable tank, fit a bigger battery and see how it goes..

Wiring is a different matter..
