Makes sense to get it running if possible. Someone will buy it.
Indeed,
The value rockets if it actually works, so it's worth spending some time ensuring it does.

I agree, even if sold for parts....knowing those parts work and not rusted in place is importantIndeed,

And buy all of the problems down the line because the electrical components will all fail in short time.Makes sense to get it running if possible. Someone will buy it.
No it's not.
I have a brand new BF200 at home.
This will be fitted once I've sold the existing engine. ( With full disclosure regarding the dunking).
I think the concern is to do with the fact that the first stage of this restoration needs to be to rip out every single wire, every single electrical component and every single light fitting and replace it all with brand new.
Otherwise your wires are all going to corrode from the inside out. Salt water will have travelled miles up the insulation of all your wires.
Apologies if that’s what you have done but it wasn’t clear from your original posts.
It’s also why most people write these sort of projects off; the cost of fixing them up properly is greater than the value once fixed unless someone practically pays you to take the boat.

Don’t get involved with BP. You don’t have time.Update
Alternator received, I'll fit it tomorrow and give it a go.
If that doesn't fix it then I'm not going to replace endless parts as a method of fault finding.
Maybe the diagnostic report will flag up the specific problem...
Time is money and I have a spreadsheet to answer to (and Mrs HP of course).
A lot of things !Update
New alternator fitted and now charging at 14.75 v.
Sea trial tomorrow, what could possibly go wrong?
Good luck with trialA lot of things !
The backup plan is ....

My brother is escorting me. Big ball fenders available if a tow is required.A lot of things !
The backup plan is ....
Sell the boat and existing working outboard as a package.
Keep the new bf200 at home ready for the next boat ....
Shame, I thought this thread had gone quiet.I've also decided that I'm selling the boat rather than keep it.
I've not fallen in love with it unfortunately.
