I'm puzzled why so many posters are suggesting a battery to the OP when his request was for a power supply? The battery suggestions and their prices don't take into account the need for a charger. How much ripple will the charger put on the line when charging needs to be taken into account else the OP can't test or operate his project whilst the battery is under charge if the charger is cheap and cheerful.

Its the easiest - simplest way to smooth clean power ..

If he chooses a sensible size pack - why would he need to charge while powering the gear ? He could use a simple regulated charger while gear is idle ... maybe even the PSU he already has ..

Because it is clear that he doesnt need 24/7 power, so that the battery can be left to charge up when he doesnt need it. And it is the cleanest supply you can get.

My vote would be for a battery even if it is hassle to get one.

They are the cleanest supply you will get, very simple to setup (just connect two wires) and reliable - if your setup isn't working you don't want to be questioning if the supply is good enough.

A switch mode power supply would be my last resort. They are the opposite of what you want, a cheap and dirty power supply for things like Christmas lights or toy trains where it doesn't matter. Yes they can be smoothed, but it's hassle and probably more effort than just going to fetch your leisure battery.
