Straining rides

Not been out on the bike this weekend but have done three spin classes this week. (One this morning... Spin on a Sunday? Wtf?)

Kinda trying to get ski fit at the same time but generally I feel better for doing some exercise in January and not drinking the booze....

I should be down this weekend mate, fancy a ride out if the weather plays ball? I'll bring my bike down with me

Lots of idiots in cars as well

I am finding that broadly speaking, the older the car, the closer they zoom past you... it's only time before one gets too close I fear :( same here regarding the blustery conditions and just so happens the wind direction has been against me going up the hills this weekend.. 1000ft climbed over the two rides so it's knocked the stuffing out this old body, legs feel like lead tonight. see you on Thursday for a proper catch up :encouragement:

Sorry mate.

Next Saturday we are at the show and Sunday we are sea trailing hopefully.

Looks like you will be leaving me for dust at the moment!!!

no worries buddy, enjoy the show, I'll be down there Thursday afternoon so will keep an eye out for deals on handhelds for you if you've not picked something up beforehand

My little sis rode over to ours yesterday afternoon ... scrounged some lunch, let me fit her new pedals and cleats then I rode with her part of the way home (along the exposed headwind part) ... I turned back after a few miles and had a fast ride back - bumped into a club mate who was just returning from his outing of 112 miles ...

mad bugger!

I managed 2900 miles in 2014, and that was enough!!!

A friend of mine is doing the Transcontinental this summer.... 4000km in 15 days, including Mount Ventoux, 40km of Italian high altitude cinder roads, and the infamous Belgian cobbles, climbing over 160,000 feet in the period... all unsupported, eg you carry your own food, water and sleeping gear!.... completely crazy!

just for others - this guy Steven Abraham (an absolute nutter!) is attempting to beat Tommy Godwin's record of 75065 miles in a year set way back in 1939. He has to average 205.7 miles a day over the period of the year. That's a phenomenal achievement (if he makes it).

4k km unsupported looks great! Wish I had the time to contemplate training for that sort of event

I managed 5000 miles in 2014 - that was enough ... I'm not focusing on mileage this year - I think I'll have enough to do come June... ;)

I was going to be doing the Liege Baston Liege sportive - a day before the Pro's race it - it's 279Km (174 miles) over 4 major climbs - but I've had to pull out of that as SWMBO can't go. I am still signed up for the Ride London 100 - that'll be speed targets though and I think the club is going to go to Tour of Flanders next year that we may try to get to. :)

I'm going to bring some warp on the ride, so you can tow a few of us down to Southampton :D

we might be better off with this:

I appreciate that being on the south coast we generally get more clement weather than the rest of you - so you're forgiven for not going out in rain or snow ...

I did manage a good training session last night - 6 miles, short break then another 6 miles return trip ... the short break was to enable me to consume 3 pints of a local beer ... :D

That's my sort of straining!! :)

No cycling at all for me this week. However, have walked 4 x 8 miles Monday to Friday by walking to work each day rather than taking the tube and walked 12 miles today and can feel it's done some good. Looking forward to going for a bike ride next weekend though, the rear wheel is now spinning freely after replacing the one with a buggered bearing so will hopefully make things a little easier / faster

Bumped into Superheat6k (Trevor) during todays walk, sorry we couldn't stop too long to talk
