steam from exhaust

I have but my boat in the water for the first time since I bought it and when i drive it on steam appears from the exhaust, the engine is a 2hg saab diesel and it appears not to be overheating is this normal or is there some way i could measure the water intake

any replies welcome

Are you sure it's steam and not bluish-white smoke which is normal.

Could it be like the BUKH where steam is the norm??

All the BUKH's I have seen on Westerly's steam, as mine does.

had this happen to me on a yanmar. thought no more about it, and ignored the steam. few months later, more serious problems! what had been happening was that the water injection point in the exhaust had corroded after 15 years
have no idea whether your engine has a similar arrangement, but i would check the exhaust manifold where the coolant water is injected
