is it best to use a whalebone stayless corset for the old bad back when sailing or a unit suported with conventional rigging?

Think it depends what type of sailing you do. The stayless corset is very popular at E Head, whereas one tends to see a lot more conventional rigging around the major yacht clubs

If i change corsets for the fully riggered type would that be more suitable for crossing out of the harbour entrance and down to say cowes?

Well, I think if you're going to be that ambitious you should invest in a Solent rig but don't expect the NCA to follow you - there's some really big seas out there

Stop that young man, you have me all laughing, and that is a tad non comfy after my back surgery, and the family are having a field day with me in my surgical corset (no whale bone, steel !) and I do not need comments about the surgical stockings (not attached to the corset itself!), son says it is Essex man all over!

Thanks for the humour!
