Reading the CA advice on channel trips to France I understand we can now check in at St Vaast, without the need to go to Cherbourg first, has anyone else seen the link on the St Vaast web site?

I'm off the Cherbourg or St Vaast next week, ideally arrive into Cherbourg pop round to St Vaast then home.

What does the forum think?

We did Cherbourg then St Vaast a week ago, but were going on to other areas ( outside Manche) so got our passports stamped in Cherbourg.

As I understand it, if you are leaving from St Vaast as the OP plans, then it's no problem.

We had no issues with Cherbourg.
Email the required entry form off before arrival. The police come to the marina reception at 0900 and 1800 each day to stamp passports. We missed them the day we arrived, and overslept so missed the 0900 slot. We went there at 1800, they looked at the printed copy of our form, checked our passports and then stamped them.

Thanks,
My concern is if I get my passport stamped in Cherbourg then leave France from St Vaast I have no exit stamp and the 180 days starts ticking.

Indeed , clearly if you arrive Cherbourg after 6 as one might crossing at say 10 hours with the time difference and depart before 9 local time the next morning then you might not have any exit issues?

It's just my opinion, but given the relaxed nature of the police we have encountered in France, if you told them you were leaving from St Vaast I wouldn't be surprised if they said no problem and didn't bother to stamp your passport
