My boat, which was new to me yesterday, has a tonneau cover, it will not fit, it looks like it used to, it has shrunk or is it shrank?, well I think is has grown smaller, any advice on how to get it to expand please
I tried that, twice, whilst is did help, it did not work, I also got as much as I could on, wet it again, then I weighed it down with part water filled 25 liter drums, did not work
You need to get it really wet, overnight in a dustbin is a good idea. Then you need to work the cover onto all the press studs, one by one. These covers need to be tight to work correctly, keep trying it should go on.
I had one made and fitted to the existing turnlocks on the boat. It still wouldn't do up unless I did it in the right order. (the right order is the one that works)
My fly bridge cover used to work perfect, till it got mended. They got rid of the expantion straps that worked. Add a bt of strapping, with a conecion thingy,
Covers seem to go on better on hot days. Maybe follow the others advice and incorporate it over a couple of hot days, slowly working the studs/clips on. Once it goes on and back into shape you probably will get a good few seasons more use out of it, its not that old.
My cover did this so I replaced the press studs with eyelets (on the cover) and hooks (on the boat) with a small section of bungee cord to link the two - works a treat.
