For those who don't know about this....

If you like Google Earth then you'll love "Windows Live Local" Much more extensive high definition cover and a superb "birds Eye View" feature. Try looking at Gosport, Dover, Ramsgate, Ipswich, and Lowestoft. All birds eye views seem to be about one year old but makes spotting your boat a lot more fun.

The Isle of Wight pictures are 4 or 5 years old - a couple of years older than the Google Earth ones.

They wont let me zoom in the last two stages - probably because Lorient is a naval base..??

Pictures of merseyside are at least 5 years old, cos I can see my old boat. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif(Better than Google Earth though.)

The views under the "birds eye" feature seem to be a lot fresher than the default 2D vertical views. Southampton (Itchen was 2 years ago) and then vary depending on the compass direction.

The Orwell pics are more than 10 years old. The Harwich Yacht Club Marina isn't even there!

Even better if South of Midlands

Try www.192.com/maps It is amazing and beats both Google and Local Live hands down. Really good resolution if South of The Midlands but I have heard they are gradually moving North with their coverage.

ditto the pictures of Cardiff Bay. Both pics about 5 years old.
