Dear All

I have had a very positive response from James Gower the organiser of the Southampton Boat Show, he has promised "We are introducing a number of new and exciting elements for the show in 2007 and plan a radical review of the show in 2008"

I guess we will see

I took my peer group to a Southampton boat show in about 1978. We loved it and it inspired me to do stuff. Whatever you know now, just think of the kids that see the next one. It aint what we see, it's the generation behind us that counts. In my opinion!!

Its an outside event food is expensive FACT live with it or take a packed lunch.........you can hunt down very good and reasonably priced food in most of the tents there now.

And for the record I paid 32 quid for four pints of Pimms at the flower show last weekend but funny enough I never hear anyone moan at the price of Guinness at the show.

If you dont like what it has to offer DONT GO!!!!!!!!!!! its your choice

Never really had a problem with Southampton as a show apart from the crap and expensive food and drinks. Be interesting to see what they have come up with.

There is a perfectly good Marks and Spencers near the entrance and it takes but a few minutes to pick up a very good and relatively inexpensive sandwich before you go in.

Last year, we even went the extra yard and bought an excellent M&S Italian salad bowl, which was eaten at one of the many tables and chairs scattered around the show.

I never complain about the prices as I plan the logistics. As I drive to the show, the one overpriced pint of beer is not going ot break the bank and M&S also sell water at less than £2 a bottle!

People also complain about motorway services. They are excellent for their loo facilities and the opportunity to park in a quiet part of the car park and eat the sandwich I bought from Tesco.

Trying to find a layout map for the show on SIBS web site.
in particular car parking very close to the entrance.
i can find a reference to parking for disabled visitors at gate A but cant find a map to show where that is:

Parking
There are a number of spaces adjacent to the Main Show Entrance (Gate A) in Western Esplanade.

Try Gate F by Red Funnel for parking (fills quickly) or try any of the retail park areas sometimes they have spaces for £10 or the multi story at West Quay always has spaces just leave before 7 though!

do you have a readable map showing where they are in relation to the show main entrance?

I know theres loads of parking but if it is necassary to keep walking to a minimum i would like to know exactly where.
quite happy to pay extra to get close.

But cant see a map on the SIBS web site.

I am not 100% sure if they post a full Map, some mags will publish maps soon but the general rule is unless you have comp tickets (vip) then you will have to use the main entrance which is nearer the multi story failing that the Red Funnel is nearer gate F (near Bavaria / Opal the old pier etc). All car parks are a good 10 mins walk.

The car park is the second exit off the Harbour Parade roundabout, the entrance to the show is the top end of Western Esplanade and the cheap M&S sandwiches can be purchases in the mall which is in front of you as you walk out of the car park.

Its usually in a muddy field, the bus driver gets lost or caught up in Saturday traffic (worse if its a match day) and some chav will have you stereo away......
