I'd like to use my heads compartment for showering and, notwithstanding the issues of hot and cold pressurised water that I don't have, the bilge on my Moody is very shallow so it would be impossible to get a shower sump installed below the floor. I had thought of just letting the water run into the bilge and let the electric bilge pump deal with it but the holes that run through the bearers are extremely small and get easily blocked.

I wondered could I pipe a plughole fitting straight to an electric diaphragm pump? Do I actually need a sump? The Whale type ones can run dry and are suited to pumping shower and waste water so it would just be an issue of switching on before stepping in and switching off when you've finished.

Is there anything wrong with my reasoning here?

Thanks

Gavin

No wrong reasoning atall, but, there is a little sump/pump/float switch arrangement for exactly this job, the name escapes me again! But I'll get back to you with it! But if theres even no room for it, you can do just that, with a little diaphragm pump!

If you do have the water going into the bilge I would definitely fit a strainer in the plughole of the shower tray to prevent hair and congealed soap building up in limber holes ,bilge pumps etc.

Apart from it being a horrible job to clean the bilge it could also lead to a serious problem if bilge pumping in earnest.
