I have foolishly rented a foolish car from Port Grimaud and thought it would be nice to blam off to somewhere for lunch... but is there a restaurant somewhere anywhere in SoF from where you can see the car whilst eating? So frinstance St tropez is no good cos all the cars are parked round the back. I suppose even just a caff would do - if you can (say) park in the square and mmm look at the silly car. Monaco to Avignon, any ideas? It’s a lamborghini, possibly green, possibly roadster. I didn’t much understand the guy on the phone, except he mostly stripped my credit card...

Les Vieux Murs, Antibes - small number of parking spaces right outside. Alternatively the pizza van at the entrance to Port Vauban is parked in a lay-by, always plenty of room there :D

Tricky!
Mer Germaine - the valets will let it stay there twenty mins as it is so nice, then take it
African Queen and the places along same strip - parking right there
All along the edge of Baie des anges marina - there are about 5 restaurants there with parking outside
The places to left of Transat, as you look at Transat. The ones that are on the street, not set back like Transat
Mich star Terraileurs (sp?) in Biot has car park right in front. Head to Biot, and it's on right as you climb into village, before the hairpins start properly

See you sunday?

Just park it on the quay in Antibes, right behind the largest yacht you can find, owned by a Russian billionaire who has named his yacht after his Mother.
Nobody will dare ticket it or tow it.

Barcelona is a bit too far for Lunch IMHO

The Billionaire you mention + a few others have thrown there toys out of the bath water -with Antibes .
The day after he lost his bid to run the marina the boat left .
It's not coming back .
Long storey -I've hinted previously .

84 boats the size of Flower Power would fit in the berth vacated.
I'm just "little people"

Nowt -no takers --- it's starting to get tumble weed blowing through on the jetty
There's a nasty storm coming soon
The marina admin have signed a contract to give the Mayors office € 18 M + -€ 6 M totalling €24 M
So to raise this they have to from when the concession ends ---
Pass the " lost revenue " they are legally bound to "hand over " to the Mayor office some
€ 18 M / pa min ( signed contract ) + some € 6 M redevelopment cash
On to the remaining berth holders -when the concession ends .
Man maths avec Billionaires was 2 1/2 increase in the rent -and invite existing berth holders to buy a place for 25 y -buy pay 2-1/2 time rent than it's us now -and if they sublet or a visitor occupies the berth the marina gets 100 %
A typical 24 M berth deal the proposition is 1. 1/4 M € up front then
50-60 € thousand / year rent
Sans billionaire s - who knows
It could be a train crash . There's a few years yet -so a bit of a Mexican stand off

The big hitters like Dilbar ( sp ? ) are leaving empty berths cos they can .

Before you ask -Theresa May had Nowt to do with this one :)

Yup
A one off fee to rent none refundable
+ maintenance remember that's on top.
That rent and sales of the rent spaces has to cover going from
Zero debt now to €18 +6 M pa
When the concession ends .

I was In Antibes Friday and they've now shut off pedestrian access to quai des milliardaires (billionaire quay) which is a shame, quite enjoyed a stroll along there.

Had a wander past JFM's instead who had someone busy at work :)

Well, if that's their reasoning, it strikes me as spectacular wishful thinking.
If it would be sufficient for any business, whenever its costs are higher, to increase selling prices to cover them, bankruptcy lawyers would be broken - and I don't think they are.

Not saying that PV (and Antibes in general) ain't nice - it's a lovely place indeed, well worth a price premium.
But 1.25M Eur upfront plus 50/60K yearly for a 24m berth is beyond a joke.
Is the boat included, by chance? :ambivalence:

No -
Antibes has the biggest dept per capita some € 3400 per head if any FR and Cd A town
Paris is not happy
So they ( a lefty admin ) either
Uncease rate s to the people
Cut flowers in roundabouts
Or find where else to inc revenue
So the trade of to granting planning for marina redevelopment is a cool
€ 18 M / pa for 25 Y
Saves sacking coppers and teachers
And come local elections -- nuff said
As I, be being saying for a long time the Mayors office and the marina have been on different agendas
Boot us now on the other foot as new marina administration have signed a € 18 M deal

Yup - it's a train crash
When the concession ends
Dilbar s -- gone + a few others
Watch this space

More to do with security than anything else now.
