Tom - your post with Birdseyes sums it up for me too, I could not agree with you more.

Absolutely respect you for you doing it your way, and I similarly respect those who do it another. I have met many very fine seamen whose practices range from the very diligent through to total abstinence (unless an enforced requirement) in the flag department.

Re: Just one tiny thig

Here here Ken. Mine does obstruct the stern light so I take it down at night on passage. Other than that, it is nicknamed the holiday flag. Up at the beginning and down at the end.

When the kids grow up though I will make it their responsibility to take it down at sunset and back up in the morning. Thats what I had to do wen I was a kid....

Whatever for?

There's no need really. Our (Dutch) ensign has horizontal stripes, so we just cut off the tatty edge once in a while. Saves a lot of money. Silly French.....

How strange..that post that you said was Birdseye's that you reprinted in blue was actually my post word for word... I posted it, then tried to edit it to make a small alteration to the coding and it all went berserk and all came out with html tags on it.
I didnt have the time to rewrite it so just deleted it.
Did you really get it with Birdseyes name attached or are you mistaken there??

Can't check on this right now as the email was sent to my home computer, but apologies to both you and Birdseye if I've got my nickers in a twist.
