Hi,

What in anybody's experience is the smallest packed inflatable, I have a wetline 230 at the moment which packs in a soft case about 100 X 60 X 50 cms and weighs about 22kgs, and is quite frankly a cumbersome lump to pack anywhere on my Hurley 24, space is at a premium

I only need a tender about 2m long, for two bods , which will take a small 2.5 hp motor, I have seen a Bombard AX2 which is smaller packed, I have also been told that round tails are smaller packed due to lack of solid transom.

Anybody any thoughts, experience or recommendations

Thanks

we have a bombard AX2, quick to inflate, light to carry, but not sure what it would be like in any kind of chop. It carries me and the wife fine and neither of us are dainty!! (she doesn't read the forum!!)
I particularly like the onboard inflators which you can use to top up the tubes if you come back from a day on shore and find they have gone a bit soft.

Hi,
I have a Compass 100 Series inflatable from Konexion Ltd. Bright yellow, soft stern with outboard bracket.Weight including transom bracket, oars and pump is 16.5 kgs. Price was £278 two years ago. Legth 2.0m, beam 1.25m, Tube diam. 35cm; max load 196kgs,max engine capacity 2.5hp( but I've used a 4hp Johnson!), max persons 2. Storage valise 900mm x approx 450mm diam. Inflatable thwart as standard.
Very pleased, but had rowlocks upgraded as I didn't think the original ones were strong enough, even for light work.
Get in touch with Yanis or Simon Wood at Konexion, who are based at Windsor Marina - tel 01753 868300

maybe you're approaching it the wrong way.........I have a Halcyon 23 with limited space and a second hand Avon of dubious vintage which takes a Seagull. Two to three people no problem, but instead of packing it into a valise or any preconceived shape, it gets rolled/stuffed into the cockpit locker around everything else.......

just changed from a zodiac with wood transom to an avon redcrest - similar sizes but the zodiac definitely packed smaller. the transom was a help in that the rest of the dinghy easily rolled round it.

mind you, the rest of the zodiac was less impressive

The Barnet website is at <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.ribs.co.uk/page/index>http://www.ribs.co.uk/page/index</A>

They're very helpful. I think the smallest packing tender must be the Bombard mini which really is teeny. I have a Zodiac cadet which also packs quite small.
happy hunting!

Further to my last reply, if you look on the newsagent shelves I think it is Yachting Monthly that have done an in depth test on a variety of inflatable tenders this month. They give the overall dimensions, the weight, max engine size and packed dimensions of each tender. It may be of interest to you...
