Hi All,

I've committed a bit of a faux pas and allowed 'sea slime' to dry solid onto my varnished wood rudder stock.

Are there any nifty techniques for cleaning this off without damaging the varnish too much?

many thanks.

Thanks guys. I was under the impression that once it had been left to dry, it became a royal pain in the backside to remove.

If you can lift the rudder off the pintails, perhaps you can pressure wash it shiny clean? :)

Too much red wine tonight.:D :(  :p

Many thanks,

Yeah I can do that. The rudder is now sitting at home so pressure washing shouldn't be too much trouble, though I think it may be a tough ask against the east coast slime. :)

I'll PM you my address. Thanks a lot for reminding me.

Well that was a bit of a non-issue. Took the rudder to the garden. Got the pressure washer into action and took no time at all. Thanks again for the replies. I did assume it would be a pain once it dried.

On a secondary issue, the galvanised rudder blade.. It wasn't in the water that long so didn't have a fouling issue with it but would you normally a) not antifoul it and just clean it off from time to time or b) antifoul?
