Sits like a duck at anchor

The best lubricant is whale oil (best sourced in Japan) in the absence of which I was told by a salesman to use snake oil (any anchor maker and some people who post on these forum can supply). Both apparently also reduce the noise (of the joint squeaking)

And Richard :)

When waves are at an angle to to the boat, which sits to wind and/or tide, life can get VERY uncomfortable. I've found that taking a line from a stern cleat to the anchor rode forward of the boat and pulling it in until the boat turns to face the waves can make the difference between sleeping and getting dumped unceremoniously out of one's bunk.

Wully, you knew it was going to be like this (-;
So far we have:-
1. Sigma 33 without a furling headsail.
2. Rival 41C up-to a F4
3. Twister
4. Moody 31
5. JDs boat
6. JMs boat
7. Ivicta 26
8. Dunca99210 boat
9. Norman’s 36’ boat
10. Claymore
11. Catamarans which are not real boats.

Plus a load of info you specifically didn’t ask for. Forums eh, confusing the fek out of people

The OP asked a question for which there is no actual answer. However members took the trouble to pass comments as best they could, for which the OP, if he realises the impossibility of the opening post, is actually quite lucky. If the posts are confusing to the OP - don't blame the forum members.

If the OP desires to redeem himself - maybe he could ask for advise on anchor choice :)

The OP's main complaint seems to be the jerk.

Has he got one of these new fangled anchors that hold too well?

I can recommend a heavy version of a CQR copy by Sowester. This will happily plough around soft mud with the minimum of fuss, soft sand and shingle may cause a little perturbation, but on a hard seabed will simply carve one edge after another like a skier descending.

A peaceful night is almost always guaranteed... at least initially.

I have a 35lb one immediately available, currently doing duty as a garden ornament.

Oh please, don’t read any more into it than what was written.
